Burma, and the rest of us
Here we go again
contemplating
on what’s to be
done
about starvation
genocide
disease
dead end jobs
no jobs
lack of opportunity
lack of this
lack of that
in a world
peopled by six billion
but controlled, manipulated and
polluted by several thousand
greedy mutha fuckas
who continue to pacify us
with meaningless dialogue
between those who live on hills
with private roads
and nannies who tuck their
children in bed nightly
Here we go again
as the page turns
but the story sounds strikingly
familiar
the rich cash in
the poor bottom out
on promises always lurking
somewhere in the future
something is vilely wrong
when thousands of languages
pock marked around the
globe
have the same disgruntled
message
“We do not have enough…”
six billion with nothing to lose
but another day of hardship
versus a few charismatic crooks
who push misery as systematically
as they push laws
The victim wraps nightly
in a variety of flags
and national anthems
but the charismatic crook
skillfully tosses roses
over the carnage he leaves
in his wake
while six billion
in all of their brilliance
have not yet mastered
simple mathematics
(a call to the masses)
